The quiet importance of a well-finished detail

Where materials meet

A room is experienced through small encounters: a hand on a rail, the edge of a shelf, a door closing. These are practical moments, but they also communicate the care behind the design.

Resolve the relationships

Good materials deserve well-considered junctions. Think about the thickness of timber, the alignment of edges and the relationship between a fitting and its surroundings. A detail should support the whole room.

Look closely at the door

The dark hinge stands out against the beaded oak door, making both the fitting and the grain part of the detail. The doors and ironmongery are a practical choice that also carries the home’s heritage character.
